In accordance with DoDI 1322.29, Airmen can participate in internships with a company that offers a high-probability of employment for up to six (6) months prior to separation. You can find opportunities at your desired post-military location, as these opportunities can be anywhere in the world in a permissive TDY status!
The entire internship must take place within 180 days of your separation date. You also must have completed your Transition Goals, Plans and Success (TAP) requirements prior to beginning the program.
Approval to participate is with the first Commander that has non-judicial punishment authority (typically your Squadron Commander).
